(12.10.23) The aim of the two-stage initiative “African-German Scientific Exchange” is to connect researchers from African countries and Germany to initiate international collaboration. The DFG now funds 22 out of 61 proposals in the field of “Sustainable Intensification of Agriculture”.

The 22 project teams consist of 94 researchers, of which 57 come from 17 different countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. The teams are now invited to specify and further develop their project proposal and eventually work on a proposal for an “Individual Research Grant”.

In April the research teams will be invited to a Status Workshop in Bonn to present their current state-of the-art, get into scientific exchange and network.

We wish the project teams great success in developing their scientific project.

The initiative “African-German Scientific Exchange” is organised in two stages to effectively facilitate scientific cooperation. In a first phase, interested scientists are invited to submit scientific posters, network on the basis of a posterbook and identify joint interests. In a second phase, research teams were then called to apply for funds under the “Initiation of International Collaboration” programme of the DFG.
