DFG Liaison Officers

All universities that are members of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) appoint one of the university professors as a DFG liaison officer.

DFG liaison officers act as contact persons at the respective member organisations for DFG applicants from all scientific disciplines. They are the link between applicants at the organisations and the DFG.

Depending on the circumstances at the respective member organisation, the activities certainly have different focuses. DFG liaison officers

  • inform researchers at their organisation about the various DFG funding opportunities,
  • advise researchers at their organisation on how to prepare proposals, especially researchers in early career phases,
  • provide support in the event of uncertainties and questions of doubt that may arise during the proposal submission process or in all phases of the procedure and
  • act as an intermediary between applicants and the DFG.

The member organisations are free to determine the person according to a procedure that suits them. In the event of an appointment or change of a DFG liaison officer, please notify the DFG Head Office informally at the address below, copying in the head of the organisation (e.g. Vice President Research).
