Recognition for outstanding services in science communication – team and individual applications are possible
The Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) is once again announcing the “Communicator Award – Science Award of the Donors' Association”. This personal award is worth €50,000 and is presented to researchers or teams who make an outstanding contribution to science communication. The DFG and the Stifterverband (Donors' Association) present this award to researchers or teams from any field of research who make their research work and specialist area accessible to a wider audience in a particularly innovative, diverse and effective way, and who commit themselves to dialogue between the research community and society.
The award can be presented to individual researchers or to teams of researchers. Researchers may apply themselves or be nominated by someone else. This announcement is directed at those working at higher education institutions or non-university research institutions in Germany. The DFG and Stifterverband seek to ensure that the award money encourages award winners to further develop their activities in relation to science communication.
Detailed information and guidelines regarding the award and the application process are available via the DFG website (see “Further information” below).
Applications and nominations can be submitted until 5 January 2023 at the latest.
These applications and nominations will be evaluated by a jury of science journalists and communication experts chaired by a member of the DFG Executive Committee. Selection and announcement of the award winner will take place in spring 2023. The award will be presented on 26 June 2023 in the context of the DFG’s Annual General Meeting.
