Recognising Outstanding Research Achievements
The DFG awards a variety of scientific prizes. These include the most important research funding award in Germany, the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize. Awards such as the Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Prize are specifically designed to encourage early career researchers and support them in their career development. Other prizes honour research work in specific disciplines. The Copernicus Award awards collaboration between Germany and Poland. The Communicator Award recognises public outreach by a researcher.
This section presents the prizewinners and outlines the history of the various prizes.
