International Promotion of Early Career Grants Programmes
All of the DFG’s programmes are also open to young postdoctoral researchers from abroad, provided that they intend to continue their scientific work in Germany following their award.
Temporary Positions for Principal Investigators
This programme provides funding for one’s own position as a principal investigator on a project.
Emmy Noether Programme
The Emmy Noether Programme supports young researchers in achieving independence at an early stage of their scientific careers through leading their own independent junior research group.
Heisenberg Programme
The Heisenberg Programme provides outstanding researchers who fulfill the requirements for appointment to a long-term professorship with the opportunity to prepare for a leading position in science and research and to use the time to work on an advanced research topic.
Initiation of Bilateral Cooperation
Applicants wishing to initiate scientific cooperation with international partners may receive funding for a period of up to one year for preparatory measures that facilitate personal contact.
Research Training Groups
International Research Training Groups provide an opportunity for joint doctoral training between a group at a German university and a partner group abroad. The research and qualification programmes are developed together and joint supervision is provided. The doctoral researchers in each of the groups are expected to spend about six months abroad in the respective partner country.
