From September 15 to 16, a joint NSF-DFG Echem Workshop was held at the Technical University of Braunschweig under the chair of Professor Mehtap Özaslan.
The aim of this workshop was to share experiences and to facilitate professional networking between German and American researchers who were selected for funding under the NSF-DFG Echem program. Around 30 PIs from the US and Germany had the opportunity to present their joint research.
They took this time to share and discuss the scientific outcomes achieved in the funded projects over the past three years. The major challenges and risks of the collaborations were also examined, especially in light of the fact that the start of projects was delayed and travelling to the respective partner universities was severely restricted during the coronavirus pandemic.
The wonderful meeting marked the conclusion of the successful NSF-DFG Echem solicitation and was a good opportunity to highlight the latest developments in electrosynthesis and electrocatalysis. The NSF and DFG hope that this will be the starting point for future transatlantic collaborations in this field.
