(18.12.13) On 14 November, at the invitation of the rector of Moscow State Open University (MGOU), the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) paid a visit to the university and took part, with representatives of the German House for Research and Innovation, in an information event organised by DWIH Moscow.

By organising the event, the university signalled its great interest in expanding scientific cooperation with Germany, particularly existing contacts with German institutions such as the University of Potsdam. The presentation by the German research and funding organisations was streamed live on the Internet, allowing students and researchers from the university's locations throughout the Moscow region to participate in the discussion alongside the 150 members of the audience in the auditorium.

After the event, the German delegation, including representatives of the DAAD, the DFG, the Free University of Berlin and the Hanns Seidel Foundation, were invited to the rectorate building for further talks with the press and the university administration. Rector Pavel Khromenkov and his personal advisor Valery Makarchenko spoke in perfect German. Moscow State Open University (MGOU) was founded as a Pedagogical Institute in 1931 and is now a traditional university with 15 faculties and around 6500 students.
