(16.07.19) Every year, the DFG office in Moscow places a strong focus on international networking and supporting early career researchers with the event format German-Russian Week of the Young Researcher. In September 2018, the Week of the Young Researcher was held in Kazan at the German-Russian Institute of Advanced Technologies (GRIAT) of the Kazan National Research Technical University (KNRTU-KAI[A1] ) with more than 50 doctoral researchers, postdocs and professors from Germany and Russia. The event was based on the theme "Chemical Energy Storage and Conversion" and hosted together with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) at the German House for Research and Innovation (DWIH Moscow).
The brochure summarises the most important outcomes of this scientific exchange and provides insights into the current state of research – a broad range of topics that encompasses approaches in material chemistry, physical chemistry, process engineering and chemical engineering.
The research location of Kazan was previously the chosen venue for the Week of the Young Researcher when this format was first set up in 2011. The first Week of the Young Researcher took place against the backdrop of the German-Russian Year of Science, Education and Innovation, signalling a new chapter in German-Russian cooperation at the time with its focus on early career researchers. This was followed by annual events in a number of Russian cities focussing on current research questions.
The conference brochure can be downloaded from the DFG website.
