Over 31,745 Projects Funded in 2023
In 2023, the DFG funded more than 31,745 new and ongoing projects with a funding volume of over € 3.9 billion.
Individual grants programmes enable researchers to conduct projects with clearly defined topics and durations and offer support to early career researchers. These programmes accounted for 35 percent of the DFG’s total funding in 2023. A total of 17,544 new and ongoing projects were funded during the reporting period.
In the coordinated programmes, which promote cooperation and structural innovation by encouraging national and international collaboration, 103 research collaborations were approved with a funding volume of € 979.1 million. In 2023, a total of 875 research collaborations, encompassing approximately 12,255 individual projects, were supported.
