On these channels, we provide information about the DFG’s activities such as calls for proposals, our funding portfolio, our active involvement at both the national and international level, research cooperations, publications and statements, events and networking opportunities, scientific prizes, and funded projects.
We welcome discussions on our posts and dialogue with followers. However, we kindly ask you to adhere to the following rules. In addition, please be sure to comply with the terms of use and guidelines of the platform in question (Bluesk │ Mastodo │ Instagra │ LinkedI │ YouTub).
The DFG’s social media channels are spaces for objective, topic-oriented discussion. Productive dialogue must be based on mutual respect. Please treat other users as you would like to be treated yourself. Ensure that your posts are always respectful and considerate in tone.
Never attack individuals personally when putting forward arguments. We do not tolerate posts that are racist, glorify violence, are defamatory or sexist, or convey views that oppose constitutional principles. We reserve the right to delete such posts or block accounts.
Misinformation, accusations and theories that are not supported by arguments or verifiable/credible sources may be removed from the comments.
Our social media channels provide information on the range of DFG topics as outlined above. Discussion posts should be relevant to the topic in question. Please refrain from posting the same comment multiple times.
DFG social media channels may not be misused for the purpose of advertising, in particular commercial or private offers of products or services. We reserve the right to delete or block such posts. Content, information, software and other materials that violate applicable laws may not be posted.
Please be mindful of your privacy and avoid posting personal data, especially that of other people.
When sharing quotes or images/videos, you should provide verifiable source references for all users. When posting images, ensure you have the rights to them. Under no circumstances should you use so-called deepfakes or any other type of manipulation of an image, audio or video. Quotes, photographs, graphics and videos that lack credible sources may be removed, along with any comments.
As the operator of the above-mentioned social media channels, the DFG will not tolerate violations of the rules listed here and may report them to the authorities in individual cases. By reacting to or commenting on DFG posts or mentioning our channels, you acknowledge these netiquette guidelines. Violations of applicable laws and regulations may also result in persons being banned from the respective platforms by the operators; legal action may be taken in serious cases.
We endeavour to respond promptly to inquiries, requests and posts. If we receive them in the evening or over the weekend, we will respond the next working day. Since colleagues in the relevant departments at the DFG Head Office need to be consulted in some cases, please appreciate that the response may not always be immediately forthcoming. We would also like to point out that the DFG is not permitted to provide legal advice or guidance via social media.
We look forward to engaging in stimulating discussion and constructive dialogue with you.
