Indo-German Postdoc Mini-Symposium in New Delhi

(19.02.24) Heidelberg University, along with the German Research Foundation (DFG) and The Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (IGIB) co-organized an Indo-German Postdoc symposium “Bridging Biology and Algorithms: Exploring Data, Models, and Insights” on Saturday 17th February 2024 at the Conference Hall, German House, New Delhi. The Postdoc symposium was organized on the side lines of the Leibniz Lecture delivered by Prof. Dr. med. Stefan Pfister (Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Award winner-2023), Director "Preclinical Pediatric Oncology", Hopp Children's Cancer Center Heidelberg, Division head Pediatric Neurooncology, German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), Heidelberg on Friday 16th February 2024 at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi.

Initiated by Dr. Gnanaprakash Balasubramanian, Dr. Olfat Ahmad and Dr. Supat Thongjuea, all from the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ, Heidelberg), the Symposium was attended by Doctoral students, young Postdoctoral fellows and early career scientist from Indian institutions such as IGIB, New Delhi; AIIMS, New Delhi and Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Delhi; National Institute of Plant Genome Research (NIPGR), Delhi. The full day symposium having 3 sessions - Informatics and Precision Medicine; Reshaping Perspectives in CNS and Sarcoma Research through methylation profiling; Genomics & Bioinformatics – had 11 talks delivered by the young researchers and was very well received by the audience. As the representative DFG India Office, Dr. Vaibhav Agarwal, informed about various DFG funding programmes for young researchers and scientists.
