(19.10.20) Even though the coronavirus pandemic is currently restricting life in general, science and research cannot stand still. For this reason, the now traditional information event on postdoctoral opportunities in Germany will be held in virtual format on 9 and 10 November. The DFG will be taking part.
The event is organised by the Technical University of Munich, the University of Münster, the Freie Universität Berlin, Technische Universität Berlin, the University of Potsdam and the University Alliance Ruhr and is supported by the German Centre for Research and Innovation São Paulo (DWIH São Paulo), the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), EURAXESS and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (AvH). The DFG will also be there to present its research funding programmes to the Brazilian audience. The aim of the event is to show young researchers interested in taking a postdoctorate in Germany the wide range of opportunities available.
The first day of the event will be dedicated to information lectures in which the universities will present their postdoctoral programmes. The funding institutions DFG, DAAD and AvH will talk about funding opportunities, while Humboldt alumni from various disciplines will also be there to report on their experiences.
For the second day, a matchmaking session is planned for interpersonal exchange, allowing those interested to make direct contact with the representatives of the institutions so as to clear up any doubts and enable would-be postdocs to find out more about the full range of possibilities. These individual meetings will last about 15 minutes and will be planned in advance using a tool designed for this purpose so that as many participants as possible can get advice from representatives of the German institutions.
The full programme of the event will be published in the coming days. In addition, a second edition of the event for young researchers from Chile is planned for December.
