(17.09.21) From 4 to 8 October, as part of the activities of the “Research in Germany” in 2021 initiative, the DFG and the DAAD will participate in the 20th Congress of the International Union for Pure and Applied Biophysics (IUPAB). It will be held together with the 45th Annual Meeting of the Brazilian Biophysical Society (SBBf) and the 50th Annual Meeting of the Brazilian Biochemical Society (SBBq).
With contributions in the form of keynote lectures and symposia, the outstanding programme will feature oral and poster presentations from the most renowned scientists in the field. The aim of the event is to provide broad international overview of research frontiers and recent developments in biophysics and biochemistry. The event agenda includes ten keynote speakers, two of them Nobel prize winners, and 24 symposia that will cover a wide range of interests in biophysics and biochemistry. Due to the health conditions caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the event will be held entirely virtual.
During the event representatives from the DFG and the DAAD will be alternately at the virtual “Research in Germany” booth welcoming participants interested in career opportunities and research funding in Germany.
In addition, renowned scientists from Germany have been invited by the “Research in Germany” initiative for an information session on 6 October from 2:30 to 4:30 pm (EST). In this virtual session, Professor Dr. Werner Mäntele (Institute of Biophysics at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University Frankfurt), Professor Dr. Matias Zurbriggen (Institute of Synthetic Biology at the Heinrich Heine University of Düsseldorf) and Dr. Rumiana Dimova (Max Planck Institute for Colloids and Interfaces) will talk about their experiences with German-Brazilian exchanges in biochemistry, biophysics and molecular biology. The DFG and the DAAD will also present the research landscape in Germany and their research funding programmes, as also PhD and post-doctoral fellowships for those wishing to do research in Germany or with German researchers.
